Dottie Rambo - Home With Jesus

I just heard the news that one of Southern Gospel's most beloved singer/songwriters died at age 74 on the way to sing at a Mother's Day concert.  The bus she was on crashed apparently due to bad weather.  Many on the bus were severely injured but Dottie was killed instantly.  No longer does she have to suffer pain in her physical body that she has had to experience for years due to back surgeries.  (And boy can I relate!)   Now she can rejoice and dance before the One for Whom she wrote over 2500 songs.

Her songs were very instrumental in learning how to worship God in my early walk with God.  The deep meaning in them just made you feel so close to the Lord.  It didn't matter that Southern Gospel wasn't my type of music because the anointing on those songs were so powerful that it made no difference.  Here's just some of the songs that really impacted my life:

Behold The Lamb
For What Earthly Reason
He Looked Beyond My Fault And Saw My Need
Holy Spirit Thou Art Welcome In This Place
I Go To The Rock
I Will Glory In The Cross
If That Isn't Love
New Shoes
Oil And The Wine
Perfect Rose
Remind Me Dear Lord
Sheltered In The Arms Of God
Sing Alleluia To The Lamb
Tears Will Never Stain The Streets Of That City
The Mercy Throne
Touch Through Me
We Shall Behold Him

I don't think there's any other songwriter that has written as many songs that made a permanent change in my walk with God as has sister Dottie.  I will truly miss her gift to the Body Of Christ but I'm also joyful that she is in the presence of our Lord and Savior forevermore.

Thank you sister Dottie for all you've done in your earthly ministry and I can't wait to see you in heaven!
